After 28 goal situations and 7 ball kicks straight towards the gate, Ludogorets still failed to defeat Maribor and both team scored zero goals. The Slovenian team lost a player in the final part of the game. Ludogorets had the chance to score a goal as soon as the 5th minute after the start when after a quick shuffle Biton tried his best and kicked the ball low, but the ball went outside the gate.
The guest team’s keeper saved what was about to be a goal by Nedyalkov in the 17th minute. Nedyalkov tried again three minutes later and the keeper reacted, but Keseru got in control of the ball within seconds. The Romanian passed to Jorginho who almost scored with his head. The guest team immediately created a counter attack but it did not result in a goal.
Keseru was out of luck when he received the ball in the 24th minute and sent the ball really close to the woodwork. Ludogorets had another huge chance to score in the 39th minute when Cicinho had Wanderson’s back and they surprised Viler and Piric, but the keeper saved after all. Three minutes later he saved another goal attempt by Keseru.
Ludogorets totally outplayed Maribor in the first half with 14 goal situations. The Slovenians were able to create only two situations. The second half continued with the same pace. Moti almost score with his head in the 55th minute and a couple of minutes later a Maribor player left the field – Hotic received a second yellow card. Wanderson sent the ball into the woodwork in the 64th minute. Cicinho actually score five minutes later but the goal was cancelled due to an offside situation. This was not the last stroke of bad luck that night.
Marcelinho joined the game as a replacement and hit the woodwork in the 79th minute. This was the last straw and the game eventually ended with a 0:0 score.
