
Ludogorets recorded their third consecutive victory at the start of the season. The “Eagles” defeated Botev (Vratsa) 2–1 in a third-round league match played in Razgrad. Brazilian striker Nathan Fernandes made his official debut for the “Eagles.” The former Gremio and Botafogo player came on in the second half and impressed with several good touches and plays.
Bernard Tekpetey opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, while Rwan Cruz doubled Ludogorets’ advantage at the end of the first half to make it 2–0 at the break.
In the second half, the visitors pulled one back through Preslav Borukov in the 72nd minute, when he headed home a cross from the left.
Deroy Duarte also came on for Ludogorets in the second half, making his first appearance since returning from the FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Duarte impressed for Cape Verde at the tournament, helping them reach the knockout stages and scoring against Argentina.
With this victory, Ludogorets maintain a perfect record after the first three rounds of the league season.
In the next round, on August 9, the “Eagles” will travel to Varna to face Cherno More.
