Ludogorets won the derby against the second Botev Plovdiv – 4:2 at the “College”, thus going into the winter 13 points ahead of the Canaries, the third Cherno More and the fourth Levski. We can say that Igor Jovicevic’s team holds its 14th consecutive title with an arm and a half.
The first better position opened up for the hosts. Ukaki passed for Alen Koroshets, whose strong shot was saved by Sergio Padt. Botev Plovdiv took the lead in the 5th minute. Ivelin Popov broke powerfully through the center and found Samuel Akere on the left. The Nigerian, in turn, left Padt with a great shot, leaving no chances – 1:0! The strong performance of the Canaries continued and in the 9th minute Akere easily passed Von Witry, the ball reached Baloyannis, who shot immediately, but this time Padt saved.
However, Ludogorets took the lead in the game after the 15th minute. Then Rick tried to surprise Igonen, but the goalkeeper cleared it. In the 21st minute, the score was already 1:1. After a cross from a corner kick by Erick Marcus, Rwan jumped over Antonis Baloyannis and with his head left no chance for the Estonian goalkeeper. In the 35th minute, the Razgrad people repeated the exercise, with Marcus crossing for Rwan, but the ball did not find the target. Then Rick also shot, but it was out. The complete turnaround was made in the 40th minute. A collective error in the defense left Rick completely uncovered on the left, he broke through immediately, Jonas Tam intervened, but only enough to lay the ball on Rwan's volley, who without hesitation scored his second goal of the match with a powerful shot. The intrigue in the match seemed to end in the second half. After another impressive breakthrough by Rick, this time through the center, he scored with a beautiful shot on the ground for 3:1.
At the break, Dushan Kerkez decided to replace the inert Ehizhe Ukaki with Christian Nwachukwu. In the 53rd minute, Alen Koroshec scored, but very inaccurately. Seconds later, Ludogorets scored its fourth goal. Rick made another breakthrough from the left and passed to Jakub Piotrowski. He shot immediately, the ball ricocheted off Atanas Chernev and flew into Igonen's net – 4:1!
After an hour of play, the hosts were awarded a penalty, as Olivier Verdon stepped on Antonis Baloyannis in the penalty area. Initially, Dragomir Draganov did not point to the penalty spot, but was called by the VAR referee Valentin Zhelezov, after which Draganov changed his decision – a penalty. From the penalty spot, Alexa Marash made no mistake – 2:4! A shot by Ivelin Popov followed, which, however, was saved by Sergio Padt. Botev Plovdiv continued to look for another goal, with Samuel Akere shooting technically from about 20 meters, and in this situation the guests definitely had a chance. Thus the match ended 2:4.
