The talent from the Children's and Youth School of Ludogorets Filip Gigov performed more than successfully as part of the national team under 19 years in the qualifiers for Euro 2025. He brought win for Bulgaria U19 in the last match with a final 2:0 against Lithuania U19, realizing and the two goals in the match. Again Gigov scored the only goal for the tricolors in the final 1:1 draw against Belgium U19 in the first qualifying match.
The 17-year-old forward, who has come through the various stages of Ludogorets, opened the scoring in the 29th minute and doubled his lead in the 55th minute. The young talent realized them after a cross from the flank and after a short corner. For the first goal, Gigov cleverly continued the path of the ball towards the goal. Again he won a penalty that could have made the result a classic, but it was missed in the 86th minute.
Here is what Philip Gigov himself shared minutes after the final whistle:
Goals are the culmination of a team's overall work. This is my job, I complete their work. I have learned all this from the accumulated five years of experience in Ludogorets!
We were pushing the Lithuanian team, we had gained confidence from the previous matches against England and Belgium. The result could have been a lot more expressive, but we had lapses and a missed penalty as well.
I think that in all three matches we performed well, we played well. We can regret not moving on. We had mistakes in the previous matches as well, we could have won against Belgium, we could have taken at least a point from England. But we leave these qualifications with our heads held high!
I am satisfied with my performance. I regret the conceded goal against Belgium, in that game I could have scored a second goal and brought the win. In general, I collected only good emotions, these were the third qualifications for me. I'm glad I was able to score more goals this time.
Another youngster from Ludogorets - Ryan Ivanov - entered the match as a starter. The first half was evenly matched, with the tricolors slowly taking advantage of the game and recording strong minutes in the second half. The success against Lithuania proved to be insufficient for the youth nationals, who occupy third place in the final standings.
