Cauly Souza is currently at home in Cologne. He shares how the Germans fight the pandemic.
- Cauly, Germany does not appear to be blocked like Italy and Spain are?
- It is different here. There are many confirmed cases but the death toll is low which is great. The health authorities are brilliant in their reaction. The situation is different compared to other countries.
- What restrictions do you have?
- All restaurants and schools are closed. Only some supermarkets and pharmacies work. People are not afraid despite the limitations they comply with.
- Can you leave your home?
- We are advised not to but we cannot hang out together. There needs to be a distance if you are accompanied by another two people.
- How do you stay in shape?
- I go out to run, as I am not used to home training. I have fitness equipment and I use it sometimes.
- Do local teams train together?
- Almost all the teams train like they used to. The players are divided into several groups. Verder Bremen was the only club that is still not allowed to organize group trainings.
- Will the championship be resumed soon?
- It is too soon to be sure because the situation is dynamic. There will be another meeting between the football federation and the clubs.
- Are you happy with Ludogorets’ performance since your arrival?
- We are becoming a better team with every following game. The pandemic slowed down our development but we have an overall advantage and I believe that once the championship is resumed, we will win. We are better than the rest of the teams.
- You scored a valuable goal against Inter – how do you feel about that?
- I am sorry I was not able to do more than that. I knew we could perform better in that match. We allowed some mistakes but Inter won.
- How do you feel more comfortable – as a playmaker or as a wing-back?
- I am comfortable in both positions. The coach’s judgement is enough for me. I feel better when I have more freedom to move around the field.
