The champion Ludogorets won the Bulgarian Super Cup after a dramatic victory over Botev (Plovdiv) at the "Hristo Botev" stadium in Plovdiv – 3:2.
This was Ludogorets' fourth consecutive Bulgarian Super Cup and their eighth overall in history.
The match at the "College" stadium, especially the second half, was a real treat for the spectators. Botev (Plovdiv) took the lead through Akere, but Ludogorets made a comeback with goals from Dinis Almeida and Piotrowski. Aleksa Marash equalized, and just when everyone was expecting penalties, Ivaylo Chochev brought the victory to the "Eagles"!
Ludogorets missed a golden opportunity in the 5th minute. Bernat made a mistake with the pass, the ball reached Aguibou Camara, he found Jakub Piotrowski, who returned it to the Guinean, and he in turn passed it to Deroy Duarte. The Cape Verde national player shot towards the goal, but missed. In the 19th minute, Piotrowski made a brilliant pass to Caio Vidal, putting him face-to-face with Bernat, but the Brazilian’s shot amazingly missed the target. The first attack of Botev Plovdiv came in the 42nd minute, when Alen Korosec found Vini Tribulle, who turned and shot, but without troubling Sergio Padt.
Ludogorets started the second half strong, with dangerous runs from Caio Vidal and Erick Marcus, but they didn’t bring the desired result. In the 53rd minute, Erick Marcus found Naressi in the penalty area, but Bernat dealt with it. Two minutes later, Piotrowski hit the crossbar, the ball fell to Caio Vidal, who headed it towards goal, but Botev Plovdiv's Danish goalkeeper made a spectacular one-handed save. The "Eagles" kept pressing, and Piotrowski took a superb free kick, with Bernat barely saving it, and the crossbar also helped him.
An hour into the game, the "Canaries" took the lead! After a great counterattack, Ivelin Popov found Ukaki, who turned and passed to Samuel Akere, and he sent the ball into Sergio Padt's net.
In the 66th minute, the score was equalized! After a corner cross from Erick Marcus, Pedro Naressi flicked it on at the near post for Dinis Almeida, and the hero from Lyon headed the ball past Bernat. Another goal for the central defender. The complete turnaround was confirmed in the 69th minute. Caio Vidal crossed with an outside curl to Ivaylo Chochev, who laid it off for Deroy Duarte. Duarte's shot was blocked, Chochev then fired, but in the end, the ball reached Jakub Piotrowski, who blasted it into the net, giving Bernat no chance – 2:1.
In the 82nd minute, Ivaylo Chochev could have sealed the match, but his dangerous header missed the target. This, however, allowed Botev Plovdiv to reach an equalizer. Aleksa Maras received a pass from Alen Korosec and, with a precise shot, left Sergio Padt with no chance – 2:2. The Razgrad team immediately launched an attack, but Piotrowski's shot went just wide of the goal. The game was decided in the 3rd minute of added time. After a cross from the right by Erick Marcus, Ivaylo Chochev slipped between Botev Plovdiv’s defenders and, with a perfect header, sent the trophy to Razgrad.
