Another famous Romanian player will join Ludogorets. Adrian Popa is currently playing for the English Reading. The management of Ludogorets and the Championship club agreed that the player will join the Bulgarian team with the option of transfer at the end of the season. The contract will be signed in February 2019. Until then Popa will be able to undergo medical tests and to join the training camp in Turkey, as well as to play in the trial games.
The 30-year-old Popa began his career at Politehnika (Timisoara) in 2005. He played there for 4 years, but he spent some time at Buftea and Gloria (Buzau). He was transferred to Universitatea (Cluj) in 2009 and after that to Concordia (Chiajna). He played for Steaua between 2012 and 2015 where he participated in 137 games in which he scored 20 goals. He joined Reading in 2017, but he was sent to play for Al-Tavun in Saudi Arabia between January and June 2018.
As a national football team player Popa participated in 22 games and scored three goals.
An interesting fact is that during the time he competed for Steaua he played against Ludogorets in 2014. The games were part of the Champions League playoffs. Ludogorets defeated Steaua thanks to Moti’s incredible achievement. Popa scored one of the goals during the penalty shots on ‘Vassil Levski’ stadium.
