Ludogorets head coach Rui Mota held a press conference ahead of their Europa League away match against Young Boys. The Portuguese coach stated that his players are more excited when playing in European competitions. He also admitted that he is aware of the things the team is not doing well.
"The difference is big—everything is different, the control is different, the ball bounces differently," Mota said regarding the fact that the match will be played on an artificial pitch.
"Everyone loves playing in the Europa League. They’re more excited when it’s about the Europa League. We know we’re not in the position we want to be in at home. Our focus is on tomorrow’s match. We know what we’re not doing well and have organized things accordingly—there will be changes. As I said, our focus is on the Europa League and tomorrow’s game," the Portuguese assured.
"Young Boys is a very good team. They may not be in their best form, but they don’t need to be to be successful. They’ll put in a lot of energy to get through this rough patch. We are here to play, to fight for the three points, and to win."
"I spoke with Kwadwo Duah, but Young Boys is a big club with great achievements. Their fans will create a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium. We’re also a big team, and we can’t wait to play this match."
"We had a minor issue with Sergio Padt, the others are starting to return, and everything is fine," Mota explained when asked about injuries in the Ludogorets camp.
"They rely a lot on their physicality. We need to respond with aggression because we don’t have height. The most important thing is to work as a team," concluded the Ludogorets coach.
Ludogorets midfielder Petar Stanic also shared his thoughts at the press conference before the Eagles’ group stage match against Young Boys in the Europa League.
"We played a good match against Malmö and won, and we did a good job against Betis too, even though we didn’t come away with the win. These matches give us confidence, so why not win the next one?"
"We know where they stand in the table, but they’re still a very dangerous team. Maybe they’re going through a rough patch, but we respect our opponent and will do everything we can to take all three points," he said.
"Every home game is an advantage for the team playing in front of their own fans. The artificial pitch is something we’re not used to. But we take every match seriously, and that won’t stop us from trying to win," added the Ludogorets player.
"The Europa League is a different kind of competition. There’s less room for error if you want to progress. We know what mistakes we’ve made, and we’ll try to correct them in the upcoming matches. But our focus is on the next game. All the players enjoy the new Europa League format—you play more games against teams with different styles. Every Thursday can bring a different kind of football," concluded Petar Stanic.
