The coach who made history returns to Ludogorets

One of the most successful coaches in the history of Ludogorets - Igor Jovicevic, is returning to lead the team. The Croatian specialist, who achieved a treble in 2025, and the "Eagles" management have successfully finalized negotiations, with Jovicevic set to lead the team for the first training session on September 24. He arrives with part of the staff he worked with during his previous spell at Ludogorets - the Ukrainian assistants Andriy Khanas, Yuriy Beno, and Spanish fitness coach Javier Laurena. Jovicevic will be presented to the media at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (September 26) at a press conference at "Huvepharma Arena" stadium.

The Croatian specialist took the helm at Ludogorets in the autumn of 2024 and in ten months achieved a historic treble, the third in the club’s history after those in 2012 and 2014. Under Jovicevic’s guidance, the "Eagles" decisively won a record 14th consecutive title, the Bulgarian Cup after a 1:0 victory over CSKA, and the Supercup after a 3:2 win over Botev (Plovdiv) at the "Hristo Botev" stadium. After his departure, the Croatian coached the elite Polish side Widzew (Lodz).

With Jovicevic, Ludogorets also played a series of strong matches in the main phase of the Europa League against Anderlecht, Lazio, Viktoria Plzen, Athletic Bilbao, and Lyon. During his one season in charge, the Croatian coach recorded 42 matches in all competitions, in which Ludogorets achieved 25 wins, 11 draws, and 6 losses.

“I am happy to come back to my family again. I have a dream that I believe will come true,” said Jovicevic.

PFC Ludogorets wishes Igor Jovicevic success upon his return at the helm of the 14-time champions!
