For the fourth consecutive year, Ludogorets hosted a prestigious Medical conference that brought together specialists from various fields to exchange experience and knowledge. Topics presented included sports traumatology, surgical techniques related to knee and muscle injuries, spinal deformities, elbow orthopedics, child health issues, kinesitherapy, and sports genetics. The subject of healthy nutrition was also addressed. The event drew significant interest and reinforced the club’s reputation as a leader not only on the field but also in the development of sports science in Bulgaria.
The forum took place in the presence of the regional governor of Razgrad, Vladimir Dimitrov, and Ludogorets’ Executive director, Angel Petrichev. The conference host, Dr. Ivaylo Yakimov, opened the program and emphasized the importance of collaboration between medicine and sports at the highest level.
Prof. Bistra Dimitrova from The National Sports Academy impressed with a lecture on the role of SPA and Wellness procedures in individual recovery. Associate Prof. Dr. Antoni Georgiev presented a topic on returning to football after anterior cruciate ligament surgery.
Pharmaceutical companies such as “Alpen Pharma,” “Best Power,” “Sevamed” Laboratory (Shumen), “Naturpharma,” and “Ekokonsult” showcased their products and services.
Among the speakers were representatives from The Bulgarian Football Union, hospitals in Sofia, and medical universities in Varna, Sofia, and Ruse, adding further weight to the event. A special guest and speaker was Dr. Mihail Iliev, longtime physician of Levski and The National Football Team.
Ludogorets’ Executive director Angel Petrichev hinted at upcoming new projects in the area of player testing and recovery. The club is striving to stay in step with the latest trends in sports medicine.
As the sole organizer of such a conference, Ludogorets strengthens its position not only as a football champion but also as a driving force in the development of sports medicine in Bulgaria.
