Ludogorets resurrected against AZ Alkmaar

The Bulgarian champion Ludogorets drew 2-2 with Dutch AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League after trailing 0-2 at half-time. AZ opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and Seiya Maikuma doubled the visitors' lead six minutes later.

AZ's good first-half performance led to a 2-0 lead by the 45th minute, but the Eagles recovered in the second half and equalised after two goals in set pieces. After an hour of play, Ivaylo Chochev headed home, and in the 63rd minute, Kwadwo Duah equalised after a second consecutive foul against the visitors' goal.

Both teams had chances to score in the final minutes of the match, but a draw was ultimately the game-winner.

Thus, the team from Razgrad now occupies 30th place in the provisional Europa League standings, 4 points behind the 24th place, which qualifies for participation in the eliminations, with 3 points. AZ is 21st with seven points.
