The Croatian goalkeeper Kahlina debuted as part of Ludogorets in the 2:1 win against Lokomotiv. The player showed good skills and saved a few goal situations. The ex-Gorica keeper spoke about his career and the competition in Bulgarian football.
How do you evaluate your debut match?
- I think I showed my class in this tough match. Such games are important as there is no rematch. You are not allowed to make mistakes. I am happy we won. We changed our tactic and it is important that we reached the semifinal.
Both the media and the fans were happy with your performance.
- I don’t read Bulgarian websites because I don’t understand the language. I know a journalist can influence a player by writing good or bad reviews. I am happy I left a positive impression. I showed why I am now a part of Ludogorets.
What do you think about the club?
- The club is on a very high level in all aspects. The club base is awesome and offers the players everything they need. Only the biggest European clubs have such facilities. The players can do even better and we improve every week.
What do you think about Bulgarian football?
- We stood against high-class competitors. CSKA-Sofia and Lokomotiv’s players did everything they can to defeat Ludogorets because of their skilled players.
What do you think about competitors such as CSKA-Sofia, Arda, and Lokomotiv?
- CSKA is a good team and they are better than Lokomotiv but the latter is stronger in tournament matches. Arda is also a great team with players who know how to achieve goals. They have great tactics, too.
Is the Bulgarian championship better than the Croatian?
- It is early for me to compare them. I have yet to meet all other teams but I can assure you the Croatian championship is hard. We have hybrid stadiums which improved the overall level of football.
How did you decide to become a football player?
- I discover that I was a good keeper by chance. I always caught the ball, I was the best. I began training hard and eventually I joined Dynamo Zagreb.
Which is your favorite team?
- Barcelona. I like their style the most.
Who is the gatekeeper you learned from?
- Buffon was my favorite but Steggen took his place because his style is what I am after.
Tell us about your family.
- I have a girlfriend, we spent last ten years together. We were supposed to get married in 2020 but the pandemic forced us to postpone the wedding for June 2021.
