Ludogorets went top of the Premier League after beating Slavia 1-0 away in a postponed 2nd round match. The hero for the Eagles was the Brazilian winger Rick Jhonathan, who scored a very nice goal in the 32nd minute. It is curious that this was the sixth match since Zahari Sirakov coached Ludogorets in which the champions kept a clean sheet.
Kwadwo Duah took a free kick in the 15th minute, but Svetoslav Vutsov saved. Whites' veteran Galin Ivanov shot treacherously in the 19th minute, but the ball went wide of the right side post of Padt's goal. Soon after, Son crossed from a foul in the Slavia penalty area, where Ivaylo Chochev headed in but sent the ball over the crossbar for an out. Carl Fabien had a very good opportunity in the 25th minute and shot but missed the target.
Ludogorets led 1:0 in the 32nd minute. Rick Jhonathan scored a very nice goal. The Brazilian, with a shot from outside the penalty area, sent the ball into the upper left corner of Svetoslav Vutsov's goal.
In the second part, things did not change much. The interim coach of the visitors, Zahari Sirakov, replaced his wings Rick and Caio Vidal and released in their places Spas Delev and the latest new signing Erick Marcus. Rick Jhonathan was given more space in the 51st minute and took a shot from distance, but sent the ball wide of the left side post of Svetoslav Vutsov's goal.
After an hour, Olivier Verdon had a great opportunity to score after a corner kick, but he did the hard part and missed the target. At the very end of the match, Martin Georgiev headed in after a cross from a corner kick, but without particularly threatening Sergio Padt.
In the added time of the match, Ludogorets missed two good chances. First, Dinis Almeida's header was blocked by reserve Quentin Seedorf, and then Erick Marcus elegantly slipped away from two Whites players and fired hard, but wide.
