The boys from the Elite Ludogorets U16 team recorded a draw in their penultimate friendly match of the winter preparation. It was played at the "Eagle's Nest" complex and tested the strength of the hosts, as half of the players were struck down by the seasonal flu epidemic. Despite this, they managed to secure a 2-2 draw against FCSB (Bucharest).
The start of the match did not look promising for the players led by Milen Marinov. A potential chance to put the ball in the net of the Romanian side ended with a shot hitting the post. They then conceded their first goal midway through the first half, and at the beginning of the second half, they were trailing 0-2. However, they managed to show their "eagle claws" and, in less than ten minutes, equalized. Petar Klyavkov scored for his team in the 80th minute. Veselin Atanasov scored the equalizer in the 86th minute. The young "eagles" even had the chance to turn the game around but were unable to capitalize on the goal-scoring opportunities they created in the second half.
"It was difficult for us in this match; with effort, we managed to gather 13 healthy players. At the same time, the game provided an ideal opportunity for the other boys on the team to prove themselves. I am satisfied with the commitment and character shown by almost all of the players," said Ludogorets U16 head coach Milen Marinov.
Next week, the team led by him will play their first official match of the spring half-season in the Elite U16 group. The young "eagles" will host CSKA (Sofia) at home. The match is scheduled for next Sunday.
