Ludogorets head coach Per-Mathias Hogmo held a press conference ahead of the Bulgarian Super Cup match against Levski.
“I’m happy to be here at this stadium. The last time was with the Norway national team. We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s match with great expectations. The conditions look excellent,” the Norwegian began.
“It was inspiring for us to advance to the next phase of the Europa League. But there is always a next match—we’re looking ahead to the game against Levski and we’re waiting for it. They are very well organized and have a clear idea of how they want to play football. It will be a challenge for us—a good challenge. Every match has its own story, its own life. Tomorrow is a final; a decision will be made. That is our focus at the moment. All of our players are ready for tomorrow’s match. With every passing week we’re improving more and more. We’re working very hard to improve different parts of our game. It’s good that some players are returning from injuries. There is good internal competition. Team spirit is important,” he added.
“Ludogorets has a history of winning cups and many trophies. Our focus is on tomorrow’s match. Ludogorets still has to adapt to every different game. Everyone is with the squad, everyone traveled; we’ll inform you about the starting eleven tomorrow. After all, tomorrow is a final—we’re facing a very strong team. They have a seven-point lead over us in the league, and we haven’t beaten them in four matches. We’re concentrating on the Super Cup match,” he continued.
“They’ve been performing at a high level throughout the season so far. The way they play—with high intensity and lots of combinations—they have clear ideas about how they want to play. I hope it will be a high-intensity match that the spectators will enjoy watching,” he added.
“When I woke up in Razgrad with 40 centimeters of snow, I felt like I was at home. In my hometown, that’s how we play matches. There was a match against Chelsea with about a foot of snow. We stopped the match, cleared the pitch, and continued. In the Scandinavian countries we’re adapted to playing in such situations. We love the snow, skiing—we love winters like that. I hope there will be more snow,” the experienced coach said.
“What I’ve learned since I’ve been here is that every match is important for Ludogorets. It’s always great to play a final—it’s special. We enjoy playing every single match,” Hogmo concluded.
