Thomas Reis: We believe in a good result against Apoel
Ludogorets coach Thomas Reis gave a press conference before tomorrow's return match against APOEL Tel Aviv in the second round of the Conference League. He stated that he is aware of the mistakes his team is making and how they need to correct them.
“It’s easy to say what we need to do. First, we have to minimize mistakes, we must defend our goal very well and, of course, we must score goals. We have done our analysis and I believe everyone understands what we must do to advance to the next phase. We need to improve our positions in attack. We know what we need to do in the final third and what decisions to make. After the detailed analysis we’ve made, we know our problems and how we need to solve them. I hope that tomorrow’s game will be much better for us and we will perform better,” began the Ludogorets coach.
“The match will be played over 90 minutes and the most important thing is for us to play a good game and achieve a positive result. We believe in that. It’s not easy for the players either – one week before their matches start, there is a change of coach, new requirements. We have given the players new tactical demands,” Reis also said.
“I have my own system of play. We didn’t have a lot of time to train. During the match, things can change. If we start in a 4-3-3, it can change to 4-2-3-1, depending on the opponent’s style of play. That’s my system and I hope it will be OK for us. All the players are ready and healthy. We have a training session at 5 pm, and then we’ll determine the squad. For now, everyone is ready and eager to play,” he continued.
“In the past, the team has had a lot of success. At the moment, we are focused solely on the next phase of the European tournaments. Last year, the team was unable to become champions. This year, our goal is to become champions, win the cup, and progress to the next stage of the Conference League tournament,” the German added.
He also commented on the future of the rumored transfer Petar Stanic.
“Petar Stanic is currently a Ludogorets player. He is very focused, as was seen in the match against Dunav. Our goal, both with Filip and with Petar Stanic, is to help them improve, help them perform better, make things easier for them. Both Filip and Petar Stanic feel happy and are focused on their performances for Ludogorets,” Thomas Reis also said.
