Ludogorets was eliminated from the Bulgarian Cup tournament after a 0:0 draw away against CSKA in the second leg of the semi-finals. Thus, after their 2:1 win over the "Eagles" in Razgrad, the "Army Men" secured their place in the final.

In the opening minutes, both teams exchanged one chance each through Max Ebong and Erik Markus. In the 24th minute, Deroy Duarte made an excellent run down the left and passed to Petar Stanic. The Serbian directed the ball towards the net, but Facundo Rodriguez saved a certain goal with an incredible tackle.

Shortly after, Facundo Rodriguez played with his hand while attempting to intercept a pass from Narese, but referee Gero Piskov overlooked the situation. It was reviewed by VAR, after which it was determined that the defender's foul was not inside but a few centimeters outside the penalty area, and for that reason, no intervention was possible.

At the end of the first half, Pedro Narese crossed from the left to the attacking Dinis Almeida. The Portuguese headed the ball, Fyodor Lapukhov made a save, after which Kwadwo Dua tried a volley. However, his foot met Facundo Rodriguez.

The second half started with two shots for the home team—by Leo Pereira and James Eto'o—which, however, were off target.

In the 82nd minute, Ludogorets' substitute Bernard Tekpetey could have equalized, but Fyodor Lapukhov intervened decisively and saved his goal with a quick reaction.
