Ludogorets signed a Tunisia national team player with two matches and a goal at the 2026 World Cup
PFC Ludogorets has successfully finalized negotiations with Maribor for the transfer of the Tunisian international with a Dutch passport, Omar Rekik, who played two 90-minute matches and scored a goal against Sweden at the 2026 World Cup. The 24-year-old central defender passed his medical examinations and fitness tests and is now part of the 14-time champions' squad. Rekik will join Ludogorets' training process on Wednesday, when he will have his first training session with the "Eagles."
Omar Rekik was born on December 20, 2001, in Helmond, Netherlands. The 188 cm tall defender has passed through renowned football academies such as Feyenoord, Manchester City, PSV Eindhoven, Olympique Marseille, Hertha, and Arsenal. It was at Arsenal that Rekik reached professional football, and then gained experience with the teams of Sparta Rotterdam and Wigan. For Wigan, he made 25 appearances during the 2023/24 season. In 2024, he was part of Swiss club Servette, and in the last season, he played for the Slovenian team Maribor.
For the Tunisian national team, Omar Rekik has a total of eight matches with one goal.

The central defender is the seventh new addition to Ludogorets after Mihail Polendakov, Nathan Fernandez, Hosam Abdelmagid, Ivo Grbic, Ivan Zhelizko, and Amir Hadziahmetovic.
With the transfer of Omar Rekik, Ludogorets gathers four players who played at the 2026 World Cup – the Tunisian, Amir Hadziahmetovic, Hosam Abdelmagid, and Deroy Duarte, who scored a goal against Argentina.
