After Ludogorets had to wait until the last round to become champions in the 2022/23 season, this campaign the Eagles left no chance to their rivals with an impressive spring run of 13 consecutive wins. Apart from that, CSKA, the main competitor of the champions in recent years, was defeated 3 times.
The season started with Ivaylo Petev, but with him the team failed to reach the Champions League, could not enter the Europa League, where Ajax proved to be an insurmountable obstacle, and ended up in the third strongest tournament - the Conference League. At the same time, while the most important matches for the Eagles were going on - the qualifications for the European tournaments, which decide the entire season of the team, in the championship, the wrong steps weighed heavily. A loss by the newcomer Krumovgrad in the first round, then a loss from Cherno more. In September, the home shoots with Botev (Plovdiv) and Loko (Plovdiv) came, but the big shock came on October, 5th, 2023, when Nordsjaelland scored 7 goals in Sergio Padt's goal. After the goalless draw with Arda came the coach's replacement.
The most successful coach in the club's history, Georgi Dermendzhiev, replaced Petev. Ludogorets immediately stabilized its performance in the championship, and in Europe it reminded again of that team with which even the biggest players followed. Proof of this was the historic with over Fenerbahce in Razgrad with 2:0, which once again opened a chance for the Eagles for a European football spring. In the championship until the New Year, the champions made only one mistake - a 2:3 loss to Slavia in Razgrad.
However, two very important successes were achieved in the Conference League - 2:1 over Spartak Trnava as a guest and the sweetest one - 1:0 over Nordsjaelland, which led to the qualification of the playoffs to the 1/8-finals, at the expense of the tough Danes. Ludogorets achieved another big win - on "Bulgarian Army" with 1:0 over CSKA with a late goal by Spas Delev.
After the New Year, things did not change. Georgi Dermendzhiev's team was extremely concentrated in the championship, where the wins followed one after another and the gap with the second one did not stop increasing. The bitterness comes from being thrown out of Europe by Servette.
The 13th title was also won in theory with style – with a 3:1 success over CSKA in a rather nervous match. Unfortunately, Ludogorets failed to win the double for the second year in a row, losing the Bulgarian Cup in dramatic game to Botev Plovdiv (2:3), with Rwan missing the goal from the penalty spot in the extra time.
